When I talk about grammar, I am referring to it in a linguistic sense.

When I use the word grammatical, I mean it in the second sense of the definition provided by Merriam-Webster: conforming to the rules of grammar · a grammatical sentence.

I make a distinction between syntax (sentence construction or grammar) and semantics (meaning or comprehension).

Therefore, I can say that something is

They are cooking apples.

grammatical but ambiguous,

Colorless green ideas sleep furiously.

grammatical but nonsensical, or

All your base are belong to us.
I can haz cheeseburger?

ungrammatical but used and understood idiomatically.
