May 2, 2019 at 21:38 comment added zr00 @Micah Perhaps the cliched body-snatcher doppelganger shows would be good for after the first draft.
May 2, 2019 at 21:23 comment added Micah In fact pretty much every long-running SFF TV series has an episode where this happens at some point: it means they don't have to hire a villain, and also the main actors get a chance to stretch their range by effectively playing a new character. You might want to watch a bunch of them so you know what cliches to avoid (then again, you might want to not watch a bunch of them so you don't get sucked into their cliches).

May 2, 2019 at 15:35 comment added DasBeasto In the TV series Supernatural demons are shown to posses people by turning into whispy-ish clouds and flying into their victims mouths at which point they can take complete control of them. Sounds pretty similar so may be worth givign it a watch.

May 2, 2019 at 11:16 comment added Rand al'Thor Have you read the Animorphs series? Your character sounds a bit like a Yeerk. At least one story (maybe parts of others) in the series is narrated from the PoV of a Yeerk. Maybe reading that might help you?
May 2, 2019 at 9:59 comment added skymningen Also, this might be better off on Worldbuilding.SE (worldbuilding.stackexchange.com)? Just an idea, maybe you don't know of that site.
May 2, 2019 at 9:58 comment added skymningen If the entity is undetectable, then it can't really be menacing. People will not see a commonality behind the different events. Maybe they will start looking for a disease, coin a new name for a new mental illness or search for evidence of biological warfare which made those people act odd. But as long as they cannot find the entity, they will not be threatened by it. Just like before people knew what the plague was caused by they wouldn't be afraid of a Yersinia pestis. They would be afraid of the symptoms, gods wrath, bad water or rat bites. But not the unknown causal agent.

May 1, 2019 at 23:31 comment added Chappo Hasn't Forgotten One thing I'd suggest is not to call him a virus, since this risks confusing your readers: a real virus is a microscopically small particle or a type of replicating computer software, whereas your character is a "wispy cloud".

May 1, 2019 at 19:06 comment added Cyn Welcome to Writing.SE Len. We're happy to have you here and hope that you'll ask and answer questions in the future. Unfortunately, the question you've got here is basically asking for story ideas, which is off topic. While the last question isn't too terribly broad, it comes on top of a lot of other questions and unknowns. Please take our tour and check out our help center and get a feel for the place. We'd be glad to help you out with a more specific writing question.
