Feb 19, 2019 at 15:06 | comment | added | thatgirldm | Unless the author commissions their own cover art for the final book, they won't have much/any control over what the cover looks like anyway. It's not a good idea to rely on cover art to convey crucial information.

Feb 18, 2019 at 20:56 | comment | added | user | @Nacht For a reasonably finished, to-be-published work, I'd probably agree... but for someone writing excerpts for an online writing course, not so much. Unless OP happens to be (or know someone who is) good at drawing, and if someone else, who is willing to work with them probably through a few iterations to come up with at least a sketch that matches what OP has in mind.
Feb 18, 2019 at 20:55 | comment | added | user | "That is not what he is." Besides bruising your ego (which I'll admit can be an important factor), is there something about the story itself that requires that the reader pictures this species in the same way you do? Or are the readers getting the wrong idea about how this species looks, but still enjoying the story?

Feb 18, 2019 at 19:38 | comment | added | Cyn | Are they part human or are they humanoid? There's a big difference. In the former case, they are children of mixed marriages (or descendants of this admixture). In the latter case, they are not different from anyone else and there are no humans on their planet (or none that are part of their genetics).
